Search for Missing Steuben Lobsterman Continues

Steuben - The Maine Marine Patrol continued to search the waters and shorelines near Petit Manan Point today for lobsterman Tylar Michaud, 18 of Steuben, who has been missing since last Friday. Today's search involved Marine Patrol vessels and the Marine Patrol plane along with aircraft from the Army National Guard and private pilots which provided aerial support. 

The search will continue tomorrow with patrol vessels as well as the Marine Patrol plane along with continued aerial support by the National Guard focusing on the area near Petit Manan Point. 

Marine Patrol Recovers Body from the Penobscot River

The Maine Marine Patrol has recovered the body of Mark Hatch, 44 of Gray, from the Penobscot River. Marine Patrol received a report at 6 a.m. this morning of an abandoned truck near the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. An investigation conducted by the Bucksport Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the truck belonged to Mr. Hatch based on identification found inside. Shark Safety Message from Maine DMR

Summer is in full swing and more people are enjoying time on our coastal waters. The Maine Department of Marine Resources wants to remind swimmers, paddlers, and surfers to be safe while in or on the water.

While relative risk of a shark attack is very small, risks should always be minimized whenever possible in any activity on the water. The chances of having an interaction with a shark can be reduced if you follow this advice:
