Augusta – 2023 was another strong year for Maine commercial fishermen who earned $611,277,692 at the dock, which was an increase of more than $25 million over 2022, according to preliminary data released by the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR).

The Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is hosting five listening sessions to gather input from stakeholders on the Aquaculture Leasing Program, which was reorganized and now falls under the Bureau of Public Health and Aquaculture.
In light of this reorganization, as well as increased interest in the blue economy, aquaculture in general and growing demands on the program, DMR wants to hear directly from stakeholders as it plots a course for the future.

On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick the DMR Nearshore Program will be holding a New Meadows Lakes Stakeholder Meeting to discuss the results of the DMR’s New Meadows Lakes Quahog Surveys from 2013 through 2023. Manomet will also present on their recent blue crab trapping efforts in the New Meadows Lakes. There will be a short Q & A after each presentation, followed by an open discussion in the second half of the meeting.
