The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a public works program that put over three million young men and adults to work during the Great Depression of the 1930's and 1940's in the United States. The CCC was active in Maine from 1933 through 1942.
The Maine State Archives celebrated the State of Maine’s bicentennial with two special projects to help the public engage with Maine history. Our archivists curated this information from our holdings and beyond to provide a glimpse into the people and places that have played an important role in the history of our State.
The Maine State Archives offers a variety of online educational programs that can be tailored to your specific interest or research focus. Each presentation begins with a discussion of the necessity of a state archive and the different types of records in our holdings. The archivists will display and explain primary source documents and tailor the discussion to your region of the state. If you have a particular topic that you are interested in exploring with your class, just let us know!
