Title Requirements
Maine requires a title for vehicles with a model year within the last 25 years:
• As of January 1, 2026, vehicles with a model year of 2001 or newer must have a title.
• As of January 1, 2027, vehicles with a model year of 2002 or newer must have a title.
Maine requires a title for these types of vehicles:
• All motor vehicles except special mobile equipment
• Motorcycles with engines 300 CC or more
• Trailers with an unladen weight of 3,001 lbs. or more
