Petition Procedures
Article IV, Part Third, Sections 17, 19, 20, and 22 of the Maine Constitution and Title 21-A, Chapter 11 address the procedures relative to a people's veto referendum.
Any Maine registered voter may circulate a people's veto referendum by following these steps:
Rep. to Congress District 2 (PDF) - Copy of Certified results reported to the Governor for the ranked-choice central count on 11/16/22.
Candidate petitions and the 2026 Candidate’s Guide to Ballot Access will be available in December 2025. Candidate petitions cannot be circulated until January 1, 2026.
