Residents in Steuben and Beaver Cove Can Now Renew Motor Vehicle Registrations Online

350 Maine municipalities now offer Rapid Renewal

AUGUSTA, Maine — Secretary of State Shenna Bellows today announced that the towns of Steuben and Beaver Cove each launched Rapid Renewal this week. Rapid Renewal is the Department of the Secretary of State’s online service for renewing motor vehicle registrations.

Through Rapid Renewal, Mainers can quickly and easily renew their vehicle registrations and pay their municipal excise taxes online at any time. Rapid Renewal allows Mainers to conduct business with municipal and state government in one seamless online transaction.

With the additional of Steuben, located in Washington County, and Beaver Cove, located in Piscataquis County, the Rapid Renewal service now includes 350 municipalities and has processed more than 3.4 million transactions to date. Municipal participation in Rapid Renewal is optional.

Residents of participating towns can continue to visit the town office to pay in person but will now also have the option of conducting transactions online. Payments are accepted by e-check or credit card.

Rapid Renewal may be accessed at online 24/7. Other Secretary of State online services can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.

Municipal officials who would like more information about participating in Rapid Renewal are encouraged to contact the Department of the Secretary of State by calling 207-626-8400 or emailing sos.office@maine.gov.
