General Schedules, for Records Common to Most or All Agencies
March 2022 — The Maine State General Schedules have been revised. We hope the 2022 version of the State General Schedules will provide Maine State agencies with better guidance and be a more viable tool, providing information and direction to help regularly manage agency records. The 2022 update includes nine schedules and a different format from the 2015 version.
These Maine State General Schedules provide retention and disposition authorizations for records commonly created and maintained by state agencies to support administrative, personnel, and fiscal activities. These retention schedules apply to records regardless of their format. Records created or maintained in electronic format also fall under these guidelines and must adhere to the minimum retention requirements of these General Schedules. We ask agencies use these schedules in conjunction with agency-specific schedules.
Note: To provide unique identifiers, any series below requiring transfer to the State Records Center or Archives must first be written on an agency schedule (submitted and approved) before records can be sent.
All schedules are in PDF format. If you require a different format or if you have any questions regarding the General Schedules, please contact Records Management.
