Waldoboro – After notifying family members, the Maine Marine Patrol is identifying the individual whose body was recovered yesterday from the Medomak River as Dale Boyington, 45, a shellfish harvester from Waldoboro.
As noted in yesterday’s press release, two others were with Mr. Boyington in the 12-foot skiff as it crossed the Medomak River after harvesting clams on a nearby island when their boat sank in choppy seas. The two other individuals were able to make it to shore along the Dutch Neck shoreline. One was treated at the scene for hypothermia and the other was transported to a nearby hospital and later released.
To clarify yesterday’s press release, Mr. Boyington’s body was discovered near Hollis Point by a volunteer who joined in the search effort and notified Marine Patrol Officers.
Mr. Boyington’s body has been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Mr. Boyington’s family is asking that the media and the public respect their privacy at this difficult time and refrain from contacting them.
