The Nonpoint Source (NPS) Training Center provides training and certification opportunities to individuals seeking to educate themselves on the effects of NPS in Maine. Training Center Programs and Resources help provide tools and practices to prevent this diffuse pollution at its source.
NPS Training Center courses may be of interest to contractors, landscapers, municipal officials, engineers, inspectors, and project managers.

Certification in Erosion Control Practices
is voluntary for those involved in soil disturbance activities in Maine; however, within the Shoreland Zone, a certified individual must be on-site during all phases of soil disturbance.
Certification in Inspection and Maintenance of Stormwater BMPs
is recommended for anyone who is performing 5-year re-certification inspections (Chapter 500) and those conducting post-construction inspections (MS4)
“Site Law” Third-Party Inspectors
As a condition of some Site Law permits, the Maine DEP requires the permit applicant to retain the services of a third-party inspector to monitor compliance with permit conditions during construction.
