Online courses for new certification and re-certification are offered through our partner, New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission and its Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (NEIWPCC-JETCC).

Courses for New Certification in Erosion Control Practices

To qualify for Maine DEP Certification in Erosion Control Practices, completion of the eight (8)-hour course, “Basic & Advanced Erosion Control Practices”, is required. This course is available online in a modular course format, or in-person.  In-person courses may be offered at locations throughout the state or virtually by webinar and are organized by local partners. Fees may apply. Please register for the following programs through the contact listed for the event below. Online classes available at NEIWPCC-JETCC.

These courses meet the classroom requirements and qualify individuals to apply for New Certifications in Erosion Control Practices.

NOTE: Individuals taking this course in-person for Continuing Education Credit will receive six (6) credit hours but must remain for the entire course (no partial credit will be given).

Courses for Continuing Education (Re-Certification & Reinstatement)

To maintain certification, Continuing Education Credits are required. These Continuing Education Credits vary by course and each Continuing Education Hour completed will afford the DEP-Certified individuals one (1) year of additional certification, up to a maximum of six (6) years. Online classes available at NEIWPCC-JETCC.

In-person courses may be offered at locations throughout the state or virtually by webinar and are organized by local partners. Fees may apply. Please register for the following programs through the contact listed for the event below. These courses qualify for Continuing Education Credits that can be used towards re-certification of current certification or re-instatement of expired certifications.

DEP Continuing Education Credits from Partner Organizations (Re-Certification & Reinstatement)

The following classes are offered by 3rd party organizations and are not directly administered by DEP; however, the following classes have been approved for DEP Erosion Control Certification Continuing Education credits.

Please note that these classes do not report certifications directly to DEP so individuals must submit proof of attendance to NPSTraining.DEP@maine.gov following the class to apply credits towards your certification. Online classes available at NEIWPCC-JETCC.
