Manufactured Housing Act
The Manufactured Housing Act establishes the framework for the safe construction, installation, regulation, and oversight of manufactured homes throughout the state. The Act promotes access to quality affordable housing by establishing uniform standards for manufacturing and installation, protecting homeowners from safety hazards and construction defects.
The Act also grants an administrative board the authority to adopt and enforce rules and regulate industry professionals, as well as investigate complaints, and ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
Manufactured Housing Warranties
Maine’s Manufactured Housing Warranty law provides important consumer protection for buyers of manufactured homes. Each new manufactured home sold by a dealer must include and are protected by the warranties further outlined within this law. These warranties, which cover the home itself and its installation, help ensure that homes are free from substantial defects in materials, workmanship, and installation, and require that the manufacturer, dealer or both correct qualifying defects that are reported within the warranty period.
These warranties are provided in addition to other warranties provided by the manufacturer or dealer, and in no way limit other rights available.
