The Manufactured Housing Program requires professional licensees to conduct reporting as part of their compliance and responsibilities under Maine law. The reporting requirements below outline who must submit information, what must be reported, and how long reports should be made available.
Private Water Safety Reporting
The Manufactured Housing Program requires the designated operator (or the licensee, owner, manager, or other responsible individual) of a private water system to conduct annual water quality testing and distribute the results to all consumers.
"Private water systems" are any manufactured housing community system of wells, water sources, pipes, or other constructed conveyances, structures, and facilities through which water is obtained and furnished or distributed to the public for consumer consumption, if such a system serves less than ten licensed sites or service connections per well, and which is not regulated by MHP.
The Private Water Safety Reports are not required to be submitted to MHP, but reports must be kept by the licensee for six years and made available to staff upon request, such as in the case of a complaint or a water test audit.

Requirements for chemicals that need to be tested rotate on a three-year cycle. Download the requirements for 2026 (PDF).
If a private water safety report shows contamination, visit the Boil Water Order webpage.
