MSP Arrests South Portland Man: Two Stolen Handguns Recovered

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, a Trooper with Troop I initiated a traffic stop on Skyway Drive in Portland for a defective taillight. The driver and registered owner of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Abdullahi Ahmed Mohamud of South Portland.

During the course of the investigation, Troopers determined that Mohamud was currently on bail conditions prohibiting him from using or possessing dangerous weapons and restricting him from being out between the hours of 8:00 pm and 6:00 AM. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two stolen handguns.

Mohamud was placed under arrest and charged with Violation of Conditions of Release and Receiving Stolen Property. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
