MSP Investigating Turnpike Fatality in Wells

On Friday, April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:41 AM, the Maine State Police responded to mile 20 southbound on the Turnpike in Wells for a multiple-vehicle crash involving possible rollovers. Upon investigation, it was determined a black Toyota Prius operated by 23-year-old Oguzhan Cildir of Brighton, Massachusetts struck a silver Toyota Sienna minivan and a white Toyota Tacoma pickup. The white Toyota pickup reportedly rolled over several times. The driver of the pickup 53-year-old Gloria Cascio of Albion, Maine, was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger in the pickup 60-year-old Vincent Cascio of Albion was transported via Lifeflight to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota minivan, 51-year-old Troy Perrault of Old Orchard Beach sustained minor injuries. The driver of the fourth vehicle involved in the crash, a gray Chevy Impala could not avoid the crash. The driver was not injured. The southbound lanes of the Turnpike were shut down for an extended period and have since re-opened. Kennebunk Fire and Rescue, Wells Fire and Rescue, and the Maine Turnpike Authority assisted on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
