MaineCare Provider Forum – New Dental Policy

The FY22-FY23 biennial budget allocated funds to establish a new Adult Dental Benefit in MaineCare effective July 1, 2022. Adults aged 21 and over will have access to a comprehensive benefit, including coverage of full and partial dentures, preventive services, diagnostic services, and restorative services. The Office of MaineCare Services (OMS) is coupling this change with a comprehensive rewrite of the children’s dental benefit to make it more consistent with today’s dental standards and an increase in dental reimbursement rates, also effective for July 1, 2022.

On May 18, 2022, MaineCare will hold a forum to present recommendations for the new dental services policy. This forum will include proposed changes to prior authorization requirements, a description of the provider enrollment process, and strategies for successfully serving MaineCare members.

We invite interested providers and members of the public to participate as we discuss the policy recommendations and gather feedback on these important upcoming changes.
