Billing Instruction Updates

Billing instructions are being updated to reflect the following changes: 

• For all claim submission methods (paper, 837I, or direct data entry) on UB claims, use condition code AH for State funded abortion claims. Previously it stated inpatient claims only, but has been changed to include outpatient claims. 

• For UB claims, field locator 76 (Attending Provider), the two-digit qualifier does not need to be populated for paper claims only. 

• For all claim forms, when attaching documents to paper claims, do not staple them. Billing instructions say to attach them with a paper clip. Billing instructions are being updated to specify no staples should be used.
