The Office for Family Independence (OFI) connects Maine families to benefits and services that foster health, safety, resilience, and opportunity and help them to meet a wide variety of needs. Our Office is comprised of three divisions: Eligibility Services, Child Support Services and Disability Determination Services.

The OFI Eligibility Call Center is available from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, at 1-855-797-4357. Please listen carefully to the menu to select the right option for assistance. There are times where the OFI Eligibility staff may call you for more information or a SNAP or TANF interview. We recommend adding our number (1-855-797-4357) to your contacts list to help prevent missing our call! If you have questions or concerns about your EBT account please call the number on the back of your card, 1-800-477-7428, or the OFI Eligibility Call Center even if you get a text or e-mail asking you to contact a different number.

OFI 101 is a no-cost webinar for community partners and others who help Maine people navigate OFI benefits. We welcome case managers, social workers, community partners, and others who help people navigate the OFI systems for MaineCare, SNAP, GA, TANF, and other OFI benefit programs.

Maine Education Savings Plan

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP; also sometimes called LiHEAP) helps qualified homeowners and renters pay for heating costs. Benefits include help paying for fuel and emergency fuel delivery. To learn how to apply, visit Maine Housing's website.

Register to Vote

Voting is the right and responsibility of all citizens in Maine. Mainers have the opportunity to determine who will be elected to a number of important positions including State Legislature, U.S. Congress, U.S. Senate, and the Presidency.
