In addition to the dedicated patrol coverage, the Central Field Troop provides traffic enforcement coverage and patrol support to the mid coast communities, Somerset, and Franklin Counties.
Criminal investigations continue to be a primary focus for the Central Field Troop. These cases include but are not limited to domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assaults, fraud via the Internet, burglary, theft, criminal mischief and drug investigations. Central Field Troop also investigates motor vehicle crashes including fatalities, impaired driving, along with active enforcement of Maine’s motor vehicle statutes.
Central Field Troop also has many Troopers who are members of specialty units in addition to their regular assigned duties. The specialties include Tactical Team, K-9 Unit, Underwater Recovery Team, Evidence Response Team, Crash Reconstruction, Firearms Training Unit, Honor Guard, Crowd Management Team, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Vehicle Autopsy Specialist, Proactive Criminal Enforcement Team and State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Enforcement.
The Maine State Police has a program in which Troopers visit schools within the Troop. This helps deter school violence and fosters good relationships within the communities we continue to serve and protect.
