Park Location and Hours
Located a few minutes south of Dennysville and Edmunds off of U.S. Route 1 on South Edmunds Road, the park offers year-round trail activities and camping. Winter camping is also offered and available by reservation by calling the park. It is a great place for family camping, wildlife watching, and as a base for exploring easternmost Maine. The park's 888 acres are surrounded on three sides by Cobscook Bay and many of the 106 campsites, for tenting and RVs, border Whiting Bay, a sheltered inlet within the larger bay.
Park Hours: Open for day use all year; 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily unless otherwise signed at the gate.
Fee collected year-round at entry booth by staff or self-service station.
Camping
Begins May 15 each year. Make campground reservations for six or fewer people at www.CampWithME.com. For Group Reservations call the park to reserve either of two group camping locations: one site for up to 12 campers; another site for up to 30 campers.
Trails
The park has two short trails appropriate for walkers of all ages.
- Nature Trail (2 miles, easy): The Nature Trail begins near the park entrance and offers a forested 1 mile path that passes along a brook ad then rises to two scenic outlooks with views over Whiting Bay and Burnt Cove. The trail up ot the outlook has a short, steep and rocky section: take extra care in wet weather. Walkers can return along the same path, or on a gravel road for a 2-mile round-trip.
- Shore Trail (0.75 mile loop, easy ): The Shore Trail is also known as Anthony's Beach Trail. It begins beside campsite 17 and follows the near shore to the boat launch where it then winds its way back through woods to come out between campsites 18 and 20. Many visitors enjoy shoreline explorations as well, but please do not wander inot waterfront campsites and be mindful of fast-moving tides.
