Winter Fun Days - Take It Outside 2025!

Celebrate the joys of winter by joining us at one or all of our Winter Fun Days - Take It Outside events. They feature lots of winter fun for all ages and reduced entry rates; and Holbrook Island Sanctuary is always free!

February 2025

• February 8 - Mount Blue State Park, 299 Center Hill Road, Weld
  10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  Join us for a day of winter fun for everyone! Activities include nature displays and a guided nature walk, ice skating – with skates on loan in the yurt, a warming fire and coffee and hot cocoa in the yurt while it lasts. A snowmobile display featuring models from the 90s will be onsite, and the Weld Winter Wildcats Snowmobile Club will be serving food to buy. Sliding and tote sled rides will be offered on Center Hill courtesy of the Weld Winter Wildcats - north on Center Hill Rd past the Park Headquarters to the Center Hill overlook and nature trail entrance. The Maine State Parks Ski & Snowshoe trailer will be on-site loaning ski and snowshoe gear at the Park HQ at 299 Center Hill Rd. for on-site use free with special event park admission:12 & older $1.50. • February 8 - Holbrook Island Sanctuary, Brooksville
  10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  Join us for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and skating (ski or walk in) along with warm refreshments and a fire. Ski and Snowshoe trailer will be loaning gear for free on-site use. Meet at the Backshore Trailhead on Indian Bar Road in Brooksville. Free park admission at Holbrook Island Sanctuary all year long. FMI: (207) 326-4012.
  
  
• February 15 - Range Pond State Park, Poland
  IFW Winter Extravaganza
  9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  A Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife event in partnership with the Bureau of Parks and Lands at Range Pond State Park. Free entry courtesy of MDIF&W! More details and a free registration link coming soon.
  
  
• February 19 & 20 - Range Pond State Park, Poland
  10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  Visitor Appreciation Days at Range Pond State Park.
  It's School Vacation Week! Come out to the park for some winter fun! Free baked goods and hot cocoa while they last, a warming fire, a mammal tracks and pelt display, and a program about the park's wildlife at 1:00 p.m. The Maine State Parks Ski & Snowshoe trailer will be loaning ski and snowshoe gear for on-site use- free with special event park admission:12 & older $1.50.   Activities include guided hikes, a Maine mammal and tracking display, a winter camping display, winter preparedness information, crafts, nature games, a warming hut and fire with hot cocoa while it lasts, snow sculpture making, and the Maine State Parks Ski & Snowshoe trailer will be loaning ski and snowshoe gear for on-site use- free with special event park admission:12 & older $1.50.   Enjoy a festive day at the park! A section of the lake will be shoveled as a skating area - be sure ot bring your own ice skates. There will be a warming fire, hot cocoa, a nature/wildlife display table, snow sculpture making and games.
