Spednic Lake & Upper St. Croix River Corridor - Management Plan
The Maine Department of Agriculture Conservation and Forestry and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife have adopted a 15-year management plan for over 4200 acres of land and 65 miles of shoreland on Spednic Lake and the Upper St. Croix in Washington County, Maine. The Department of Agriculture Conservation and Forestry owns a 500 foot corridor on the Upper St. Croix between Vanceboro Dam and Grand Falls flowage,covering 35 miles of the river and 1,794 acres.
The Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife holds fee title to 15.8 miles of shoreline corridor (500) ft on Spednic Lake, (978 acres), and also holds a conservation easement on an additional 14.4 miles of shoreland (831 acres). In addition Inland Fisheries & Wildlife owns a 650 acres wildlife management area on Spednic Lakes called " Booming Grounds." The plan was jointly developed by the two departments.

Public Meetings
A Public Scoping Meeting took place on October 27, 2010 at the Vanceboro Elementary School.
A Final Draft Plan was made available for public review on May 16th and a public meeting on the Final Draft took place on May 31st at the Vanceboro Elementary School Comments will be accepted until June 14th, 2011.
