URGENT NOTICE: Abrupt Service Disruption in Southern Maine

The Maine Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) is notifying all pharmacists and pharmacy staff of an abrupt service disruption event affecting several hundred patients in southern Maine. A pain and addiction medicine clinic in this region has been affected by federal law enforcement action, leaving patients without access to their usual care. Many of these patients are prescribed controlled substances including opioids for chronic pain, buprenorphine for opiate use disorder, and benzodiazepines for anxiety.

If a patient affected by this clinic closure presents to your pharmacy seeking assistance, please ask them to call 211 for help locating prescribers to obtain emergency and long-term prescriptions and any other assistance they may need.

As always, please offer naloxone to patients when possible. Thank you for your help.
