Critical Communications: A New E-message Topic List
A new e-message list for critical information
MaineCare created a new e-message topic list called MaineCare - Critical Communications. We will utilize this list solely to share information when circumstances disrupt provider operations. Since you are already subscribed to at least one topic, we will upload your email address and add it to this new listserv option.
Examples of critical information we will send via the new critical topic list include, but are not limited to:
- Temporary Payment Hold – Claims payment hold due to lack of funding because the Legislature did not pass the supplemental MaineCare budget timely.
- Network Interruption due to Change Healthcare Outage – Some MaineCare providers experienced issues with claims payment due to a cyber breach in Change Healthcare’s system.
In both examples, the change impacted most provider types and caused serious disruption in claims reimbursement.
Subscribing to the new topic list
The new topic list is open to anyone, so you are able to subscribe only to the Critical Communications list. Prior to sending a critical message, we will update the emails from the other subscription lists. Subscribe to the new MaineCare - Critical Communications list today!
We will not automatically upload emails from the following topic lists to the new list:
- MaineCare Members
- MaineCare Initiatives and Special Topics
- State and Federal Policy
Unsubscribing means missing critical information
Please do not unsubscribe to the Critical Communications topic list. Just like the other topic lists, we are unable to subscribe you again and you will miss messages we send on this list. The tool does not allow administrators to add you back if you unsubscribe. You would have to go back to our subscription list and re-subscribe.
Balancing the information flow
When MaineCare shared critical information, we sent the e-message on all topic lists which meant providers received the message several times. Before we created the new Critical Communications list, we utilized the General, All Services list for critical communication as well as other information that impacted all providers but because we sent much of our communications that impact multiple provider types through this list, providers missed critical information. With the new critical communications topic list, we hope to limit the number of emails from MaineCare and improve visibility of information that has serious impact to provider operations.
General, All Services topic list
We will continue to use the General, All Services topic list to send communications that may impact all providers and policies, but don’t rise to the level of critical messaging. Examples of topics we will continue to send via the General, All Services topic list include, but are not limited to:
- MaineCare Rate Reform Expert Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) Consultation on Draft CY2025 Rate Determination Schedule
- Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) Reporting Year (RY) 2024 Errors
If you’d like to receive e-messages we send on all the other topic lists, you can subscribe to receive them. We will not automatically add anyone to the other topic lists.
