CMV (cytomegalovirus) Toolkit

The Maine CDC is raising awareness of CMV, the most common infectious cause of birth defects in the United States. About 1 out of 5 babies with congenital CMV infection will have birth defects or other long-term health problems, such as hearing loss.

See the social media toolkit, used by health care providers and individuals seeking to promote prevention of CMV. Together we can bring about more awareness to decrease the risk of pregnant women and individuals contracting CMV in Maine.

For more information, please visit the Maine CDC site. In addition, please consider watching this short informative video by the Colorado American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) AAP_CMV video_final on Vimeo. For questions, please contact Roberta Gonzalez-Dow, CMV Coordinator.
