Attention Section 90 Providers: Updated Changes for Billing Topical Fluoride Varnish, CR 111959

In a July 22, 2022, e-message the Department indicated Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code 99188 (application of topical fluoride varnish by a physician or other qualified health professional) would be reimbursed the same rate as Current Dental Terminology (CDT) code D1206, Topical Application of Fluoride Varnish, starting August 1, 2022.    

However, the Department did not update the $12 rate to the correct $24.56 rate until August 30, 2022. The Department will adjust claims from August 1, 2022, to August 29, 2022, with CPT code 99188 using the increased rate. No provider action is needed.
