Breast Cancer Support Specialty Plate
The Maine Breast Cancer Plate provides a way for vehicle owners to show their support for the Breast Cancer Services Special Program.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How much does the Breast Cancer plate cost?
A: The fee is $20.00 in addition to the regular registration fee when first purchasing the plates. Each renewal is an additional $15.00. The plates will be issued in a unique numbering sequence, beginning with 101-ALA. There will be no low digit plates available.
Vanity plates are available in the Breast Cancer plate series with a maximum of six characters. The fee is an additional $25.00 above the registration fee. Breast Cancer vanity plates cannot duplicate a vanity plate that is already issued in another class of plate. You may search and order a vanity plate online.
Q: Where does the money go?
A. The proceeds from the Breast Cancer Support Services specialty plate raises money to be deposited into the Breast Cancer Services Special Program Fund, established by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Breast Cancer Services Special Program Fund receives $10.00 from each purchase and renewal fee. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention will then equally distribute the funds to the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program within the center, a statewide nonprofit organization established for the purpose of providing services to underserved people with breast health and breast cancer needs and an independent state-based foundation for the purpose of providing funding for cancer research, education and patient support programs.
Q: Where can the Breast Cancer Support Services plates be purchased?
A: At all Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicle Branch Offices and at many town offices. If the plates are not available in your town, they can be purchased at the nearest branch office or by mailing a copy of your registration and a check for $20 ($45 for vanity) made payable to the Secretary of State to: Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Specialty Plate Clerk, 29 State House Station, Augusta, Maine 04333.
