December 12, 2024: Supporting Bird Recovery on Private Lands: A US State Perspective

Road to Recovery, AFWA and NABCI are pleased to offer a virtual engagement session focused on bird conservation on private lands from a US State perspective. This session will feature experts from state agencies, land trusts, and private landowners who will discuss the importance of private land conservation for bird populations - and how to engage in this important work at the State level. With a significant portion of land in the US privately owned, conservation efforts on these lands are crucial for bird recovery. The session will highlight best practices, partnership building, available resources, and success stories from landowners who have implemented bird-friendly practices on their properties.

April 24, 2024: Coastal Habitat Conservation for Climate Resilience (for coastal communities)
Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, Climate Coordinator for Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife's Beginning with Habitat program will provide an overview of conservation planning tools and strategies for a changing climate, and suggestions for how to use them. This presentation will highlight salt marsh ecosystems and salt marsh sparrows. Pete Slovinsky, Marine Geologist with Maine Geological Survey, will discuss how climate change is impacting vulnerable dune habitat in the state, and recommend conservation actions for communities with this habitat.
Please join us for this free Zoom event focused on long-term planning tools and strategies that support natural solutions for resilient habitat. These virtual Casco Bay Coastal Academy (CBCA) workshops are brought to you by Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Maine Sea Grant, and R1CC. CBCA aims to build the knowledge base of municipal board members and staff about critical coastal issues and provide skills training to support their project planning and implementation. The workshops are especially targeted to municipal staff, volunteer committee members, community leaders, and organizations providing services to municipalities. Everyone is welcome!

May 8, 2024: Inland Habitat Conservation for Climate Resilience (for inland communities)

Learn how to use BwH tools & services for effective decision making and planning in your own home town.
This lunch & learn webinar will be divided into two-parts. In the first half of the session, we will introduce our program and share tools and services designed for municipalities. In the second part of the webinar, we will reserve time for Q&A. We want to hear from you and learn about your questions and needs.
