Elevator Mechanic

An Elevator Mechanic is a person who services, repairs, alters or installs elevators and lifts in the State of Maine.

  • Criminal background check fee of $21.00

Term

  • One year (August 31)

Requirements

An applicant shall have:

  • At least 2 years' experience in the service, repair, alteration or installation of elevators while employed by an elevator company;
  • At least 4000 hours' experience, over at least a 2-year period, in the service, repair, alteration or installation of elevators other than while employed by an elevator company; or
  • At least 4000 hours' experience, over at least a 2-year period, in the service, repair, alteration or installation of elevators either while employed by an elevator company or in any other capacity.

  • One-year renewal fee of $50.00

Renew Now

The Department must verify that you have met all the conditions for renewal before your license is renewed. Online submission of your renewal application should not be construed as automatic renewal of your license.

Requirements

  • A late fee of $50.00 is assessed for licenses renewed up to 90 days after the license expiration date.
  • Any person who submits an application for renewal more than 90 days after the expiration date but not more than 2 years may reinstate by paying the $50 license fee and $100 penalty fee. Reinstatement application (PDF)
  • Any person who submits an application for renewal more than 2 years after the expiration date shall be subject to all requirements governing new applicants.

 

Lift Mechanic

A Lift Mechanic is a person who services, repairs, alters or installs lifts in the State of Maine.
