The Maine Department of Education is excited to participate in the 4th annual International SEL Day celebration again this year. The theme of this year’s event is Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Leaders.
We recognize that Maine educators and community partners celebrate and honor Maine students daily, helping youth realize their individual capacity to become “Leaders of their own Learning.”
This year the Nation is joining together to showcase, promote, advocate for, and support SEL for adults and youth.
This work begins with us, the adults, mentoring and guiding youth in all areas of their development. When adults prioritize connection, mattering, and a sense of belonging, students can feel safe to explore their leadership potential.
We invite you to take part in celebrating SEL Day 2024 by connecting with your colleagues and your students to highlight their leadership in their homes, schools, and communities. The Maine Department of Education encourages school communities to showcase their student's leadership by sharing highlights to their school/district social media and tagging Maine DOE using #SELday.
