Maine DOE supports opportunities for eligible students to participate in early college coursework programming. The Aspirations Program assists in funding eligible public secondary school students and registered home instruction students, to enroll in coursework at one of the Maine Community College or University of Maine system campuses.

Maine public secondary students and registered home instruction students must meet certain qualifying requirements to be eligible to participate in the Aspirations Program.

Early College Grant Program

The Early College Grant Program supports CTE schools in providing a cohort-based learning pathway for career and technical education students that provides those students with the opportunity to take postsecondary education courses and earn credits toward an associate degree while participating in a career and technical education program that integrates secondary education and postsecondary education courses.

Maine DOE Diploma Program

The Maine Department of Education oversees two education disruption diploma programs for publicly-funded students who are unable to meet their locally awarded diploma requirements.

  • Disruption due to homelessness or foster care
    - 10 consecutive absences due to unexpected hospitalizations, placement in a treatment center, and related situations.
    - Enrollment in three or more schools in one academic year
    - Immigrant or migrant student status

Maine Career Pathways

Maine DOE serves as the point of contact for the Maine Career Pathways program, a statewide collaboration of state agencies, higher education institutions, and other entities seeking to provide seamless workforce pathways for students and adult learners.
