Differentiated and responsive professional learning opportunities support the efficacy of programs for multilingual learners and build sustainable pathways to systematically integrate language and content instruction and assessment.

Strengthening Instruction for Multilingual Learners
This project is one component of Maine's coordinated statewide efforts to implement the Literacy and Numeracy Action Plans, which together aim to strengthen instruction, build educator capacity, and close persistent achievement gaps across all student populations.
WIDA Professional Development
The WIDA Core Learning Collection provides on-demand, research-based professional development to strengthen instruction for multilingual learners.
Explore practical strategies and resources to support multilingual learners’ access to rigorous, grade-level content. WIDA Self-Paced Workshops may take up to four hours, while On-Demand Videos typically take less than one hour. Maine DOE-sponsored learning opportunities are available at no cost and can be used for individual professional learning or collaborative learning with colleagues and teams.
Offerings are available through the WIDA Secure Portal from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027.
