The Maine Department of Education, in collaboration with educators, schools, districts, and communities statewide, strives to provide all Maine students access to educational experiences — PreK through adult — that lead to their success in life and career. The Maine DOE provides professional development, information, supports, and resources to local schools and districts — along with a system for educator credentialing — to ensure every classroom across Maine is equipped to help students thrive.
As a state agency, the Maine DOE administers both state education subsidy and state and federal grant programs, and coordinates the authoring of rules for Maine education statutes passed by the Maine State Legislature.
The Maine DOE leads collaborative opportunities and partnerships in support of local schools, districts, and communities statewide — working across agencies, organizations, and communities to strengthen Maine's education system for all learners.
