On April 16, Governor Mills signed LD 2173 into law. The legislation amended portions of LD 1829, including establishing a July 1, 2027, implementation deadline for all municipalities to amend land use ordinances to comply with the law.
To assist municipalities with implementation of LD 2173, the Housing Opportunity Program (HOP) will update its Housing Legislation Guidance Document, technical assistance materials, and rule over the course of the summer. In addition, municipalities may apply for up to $10,000 for revising their ordinances to comply with the LD 2173 and LD 1829’s housing density requirements. Awards will be on a rolling basis. Apply by July 31.
