The Maine EMS QI Committee has released the Summer 2021 Newsletter regarding Sepsis.
The Maine EMS Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement Committee would like to share the results of their review of sepsis-related incidents. Today, sepsis is a severe multisystem disease with difficult
treatments for its manifestations and high mortality rates. Studies suggest that mortality rates for septic patients without signs of organ failure may be as high as 15-30%. Please consider a CQI process to review for documentation of the patient's known or suspected sources of infection. Consider working to ensure there are two-way, open communication avenues to receiving facilities regarding Code Sepsis.Summer 2021 QI Newsletter - Sepsis (PDF) (November 2, 2021)
