In January 2021, the Maine EMS Board adopted new and updated rules, including a revised schedule for all Maine EMS Service license renewals. Chapter 3, section 5, subsection 3, effective July 1, 2021, establishes that all service licenses will have an annual expiration date of November 30.
To complete this transition, agencies with a current service license expiration between January 31, 2022, and June 30, 2022, will receive an email notification with updated service and vehicle licenses with an expiration date of November 30, 2022. These impacted agencies will not be required to complete an application or submit documentation for this process. Each impacted agency will receive a mailed invoice for the pro-rated extension period at a value of $8.33 per month for the service license and $5 per month for each licensed EMS vehicle. All licensed EMS agencies will be required to complete the traditional renewal application process before the new November 30, 2022 expiration date.
