IOY promotes health, safety, and resilience; and provides connections to workforce and educational opportunities for Maine people aged 14-24. IOY promotes self-sufficiency for youth and families by increasing prevention services and programming in communities and schools to ensure access to needed behavioral health services, like substance misuse disorder screenings and treatment, and reproductive health education. IOY Programs are free to participants.
The Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) contracts with providers serving the three DHHS Regions to ensure youth and young adults have access to IOY Program services that:
- Increase knowledge, skills, and healthy attitudes about nutrition, hygiene, self-care, fitness, and reproductive health;
- Promote healthy lifestyles, academic success, and citizenship; and
- Assist youth and young adults to acquire the tools needed to succeed into adulthood.
