GOOD MORNING! As of 10:30 pm last night, the Android App update is LIVE AND AVAILABLE ON GOOGLE PLAY!
Although Maine EMS and the App developer submitted the materials to Google Play, the delay was on their end of the process. We apologize for any frustration with this, but it was out of our control.
Working with the App developer, there has been much progress made regarding some of the issues reported below:
- Android App Update not available: The Android App is up and available.
- When installing the Android update to the Maine EMS Protocol App, there is a know issue with the Android platform that can result in error or other messages. To address the issue:
- Before updating your app, please try removing the app altogether from your device. Then re-download from Google Play. Make sure the update you’re getting is the 2024.1 update.
- iPhone "dark mode" screen setting: A fix has been made that removes the blacking out of the menus when in dark mode. Please know the dark mode setting primarily affects the menu screens, as the presentations of the actual protocols, themselves, are PDFs which cannot be modified as may be possible with a web-based app, versus a PDF-based app, which is what both Maine EMS and Vermont have (download the Vermont EMS app for comparison).
- "Missing Plugin" notification: A fix has been implemented that should have resolved this issue. Please continue to report this to Maine EMS if you continue to see this
- Medication Calculations: The work done making some small fixes, we know has resulted in a great number of cues to "refresh app." Please know that if you are seeing this cue, it is because there have been other smaller fixes or "peaks and tweaks" done in the app background.
- "Protocols not downloaded" issue: To fix, iOS users should first delete the app from the device and then re-download from the App Store. After you re-load the app, you should get a cue to refresh the app to receive the update. We suspect this may be a connection issue as the app is downloaded from the app store or it may be related to the size of the protocol PDF file. Maine EMS is working to address this issue.
These are the primary issues that have been reported and we are addressing. Maine EMS is maintaining working the developer to resolve app issues and to keep field clinicians and stakeholders informed. Please monitor your email and our Maine EMS website for new updates.
Please continue to report new issues, as well as any questions, to EMS Education Coordinator, Chris Azevedo, christopher.azevedo@maine.gov
Thank you for your work and assistance, and please be safe!
