Disease Surveillance Epidemiology Program
Tuberculosis Control Program - About us
The Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program provides surveillance of active TB disease throughout Maine. Referrals for patients with suspected or diagnosed active TB disease are taken by the TB Controller.
Consultation regarding the diagnosis and treatment of active TB disease as well as latent TB infection is available from TB Consultants located throughout the state. The Consultants are private, board certified pulmonologists or Disease Surveillance physicians who have a contractual arrangement with the TB Control Program. The TB Control Program can find the Consultant closest to you.
Medication for the treatment of TB disease and TB infection can be paid for by the TB Control Program. Ongoing case management, including directly observed therapy (DOT) for patients with active TB disease, and TB skin test training workshops are done by the State Public Health Nurses.
