Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and Julie Flynn, Deputy Secretary of State for the Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions, will provide testimony before the Maine Legislature Wednesday, April 21 on several bills that propose to make permanent many of the innovative measures the State put in place for voting during the pandemic, including:

  • Absentee ballot tracking (LD 1013)
  • Installation of ballot drop boxes   (LD 1165)
  • Codifying the absentee ballot cure processes (LD1363)

The 10 a.m. public hearing is before the Legislature’s Subcommittee on Veterans and Legal Affairs
Secretary Bellows also supports additional improvements to Maine’s election processes currently under consideration by the Legislature, such as launching an online voter registration portal and instituting risk-limiting election audits.
