Kennebunk BMV branch temporarily closed

AUGUSTA – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is closing the Kennebunk Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch office effective today at 11 a.m.

The closure is due to a staffing shortage at the branch, related to scheduled vacation time combined with precautions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Maine.

The branch will remain closed until further notice.

Those seeking BMV services during this time are encouraged to use the online services at https://www.maine.gov/sos/online_services/ or visit a nearby branch office, such as:

  • 456 Main St., Springvale,
  • 200 Expedition Drive (Suite G) (Cabela’s Plaza), Scarborough
  • 125 Presumpscot St., Portland

The offices of AAA can also process some BMV transactions such as issuance of State ID Cards and Class C, non-CDL driver's license renewals and replacements (duplicates) that do not require such changes as a name change; a new photograph; or a change in restrictions and/or endorsements on a driver's license. All branch locations and AAA locations are posted on the BMV website.

Those who are unable to conduct their transactions online and have concerns about visiting a branch in person should call the BMV Main Office at 207-624-9000.

Please note: AAA locations cannot process Real ID-compliant credentials.
