Bureau of Motor Vehicles central office closed today due to heating system failure
AUGUSTA – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap is closing the central office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, at 101 Hospital Street, Augusta today at noon due to a lack of heat.
All BMV branch offices across the state will remain open for the rest of the day during normal business hours. The central office is expected to reopen on Monday, Feb. 24.
“We have been working with the Bureau of General Services this morning to address the heating issue in our Central Office building with the goal of remaining open for business today, but have been unable to resolve the issue,” said Secretary Dunlap. “As we are unable to provide a hospitable work environment today for our central office BMV employees, we will have to close.”
Repairs will continue today and over the weekend if necessary, to allow the BMV central office to reopen for regular business hours on Monday.
Visit the Bureau of Motor Vehicles webpage for a full listing of all branch offices, which will remain open today. Those who need BMV services in Augusta today are advised to visit the Augusta BMV branch office at 19 Anthony Avenue.
BMV-related questions can be directed to Secretary Dunlap’s office today at 207-626-8400.
