Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles closed for staff training Thursday, Sept. 26

AUGUSTA – All Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 26 for a full-day training of all bureau staff members, Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced today. Additionally, the Caribou and Calais BMV branch offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to allow all staff to travel to Augusta for the training.

The Maine Department of Labor will conduct the bureau-wide staff training, which will review the bureau’s Language Accessibility Policy and provide staff with an introduction to deaf culture.

The Maine Department of the Secretary of State is committed to serving all Maine residents and providing services to make our licensure processes accessible to all eligible applicants. This training event will serve as a refresher for all staff on BMV policies to provide fair and equitable access to licensure, in accordance with Maine and federal law.

Any applicant who requires accommodations for the written or road test should contact the Exams Division of the BMV, at 207-624-9000 Ext. 52119; inquire in-person at any BMV branch, email the Exams unit at license.bmv@maine.gov or mail Bureau of Motor Vehicles, State House Station 29, Augusta, Maine 04333-0029.
