Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announces recount results for House District 82
AUGUSTA — Incumbent independent candidate Kent Ackley has been confirmed as the winner of the House District 82 seat, based on the results of a ballot recount conducted today, announced Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.
In the final tabulation of ballots cast, Ackley received 2,155 votes to Republican candidate Randy Greenwood’s 2,139 votes. District 82 includes Litchfield, Wales and part of Monmouth. A recount of the Nov. 6 election results was requested by Greenwood after unofficial results from Election Day indicated that he had lost the election by 28 votes, 2,153 to 2,125.

The recount included 93 blank ballots, for a total of 4,387 ballots in the race.
In a recount, the representatives of each candidate and staff members from the Department of the Secretary of State manually review each ballot to determine the official vote tally. The recount, which is open to the public, began at 10 a.m. today at the Elkins Building in Augusta.
