Secretary Dunlap Announces Official Tabulation of 2018 General and Referendum Election

AUGUSTA – The official tabulation of votes from the Nov. 6, 2018 General and Referendum Election is now complete, Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced Monday.

The certified results will be submitted to Gov. Paul LePage today. The Maine Constitution provides up to 10 days for the governor’s signature and proclamation of the results.

The full results will be posted online at http://maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/results/index.html later this week.
The General Election tabulation includes the certified election results for the statewide offices of one of Maine’s two United States Senators, Maine’s Governor, two Representatives to Congress, members of the Maine Legislature, and certain county officers.

The Referendum Election tabulation includes the certified election results for the statewide referendum and the four bond questions.

The final tabulation for the office of Judge of Probate in Hancock County is pending a recount that is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Nov. 28. Additionally, a recount has been requested in the Congressional District 2 race, which has not yet been scheduled. The tally in the Congressional District 2 race, which was conducted using ranked-choice voting, has been updated to include results from six towns whose results did not upload properly into the election reporting software. The discrepancy was identified as part of the due diligence exercised by the Elections staff during the certification process and does not change the outcome of the election.

An updated tally of each race that is undergoing a recount will be certified and issued to the governor for proclamation once their respective recounts are completed.
