Secretary Dunlap to draw ballot order for casino, healthcare questions

AUGUSTA -- Secretary of State Matt Dunlap will draw the order of the citizens’ initiative questions for this November’s ballot on Wednesday.
The Nov. 7, 2017 ballot will include two citizens’ initiative questions, listed here in alphabetical order:

The drawing for the order of the two citizens’ initiatives will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in Secretary Dunlap’s office at the Nash School Building, 103 Sewall St., Augusta. The drawing is open to the public.
In addition to the citizens’ initiatives, voters will also decide on one bond issue and one constitutional amendment at the polls in November:

Referendum Election ballot questions are presented to the voters by category, with the placement within each category determined by luck of the draw. Citizens’ initiative questions appear first on the ballot, followed by bond questions and constitutional amendments. Visit the Upcoming Elections page of the department’s website for additional information, including the 2017 Citizens’ Guide to the Referendum Election, which will be available this fall with financial information and explanatory material for voters to consider.
The Secretary of State’s Office is accepting public comment on the exact wording of the citizens’ initiative questions, through Sept. 1. The State of Maine’s Referendum Election is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017. Absentee ballots can be requested online or at your town office.
