Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announces recount results for House District 121
AUGUSTA ? Democratic candidate Robert Duchesne has been confirmed as the winner of the House District 121 seat, based on the results of a ballot recount conducted today, announced Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.
In the final tabulation of ballots cast, Duchesne received 2,218 votes to Republican candidate Gary Drinkwater?s 2,193 votes. District 121 includes the towns of Alton, Corinth, Hudson and Milford, plus the unorganized territory of Argyle Township. A recount of the Nov. 8 election results was requested by Drinkwater after unofficial results from Election Day indicated that he had lost the election by 22 votes, 2,212 to 2,190.

In a recount, the representatives of each candidate and staff members from the Department of the Secretary of State manually review each ballot to determine the official vote tally. The recount, which is open to the public, took place at the Maine Department of Public Safety building in Augusta.
