Millinocket BMV exams office relocating
MILLINOCKET ? Effective July 1, 2015, driver license examinations in the Katahdin region will be offered at the American Legion in Millinocket, located at 970 Outer Central St.
Until July 1, exams will continue to be offered at the East Millinocket Fire Station at 125 Main Street. Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap, in announcing the move, noted the new location will consolidate services for driver licensing in the area, which will result in overall cost savings. The Millinocket American Legion already serves as the processing center for driver license renewals, on the Friday following the third Tuesday of each month.
Relocating the exam site to the American Legion will also provide a quieter atmosphere for test-takers, with fewer distractions than at the fire station site.
?The new examination location provides an environment that is more customer-friendly to conducting examinations, both written and on-road driving evaluations,? said Dunlap.
As well, the American Legion location at 970 Outer Central St. is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provides easy access for those with physical mobility issues who seek driver license services.
For more information about accessing this new examination site, call the Maine Department of the Secretary of State at 626-8400.
