Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap to Visit Polling Locations for Senate District 19 Special Election Today

Special election will fill legislative vacancy in Sagadahoc County and the town of Dresden

AUGUSTA, Maine -- Secretary Dunlap has released his schedule for polling visits during the Special Election today.  The Secretary will be available to answer media questions during the visits and at any time during the day.  The election is required to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Seth A. Goodall, who left to serve as New England Regional Administrator for the Small Business Administration.

One of my favorite parts of my job is to engage with voters and see the hard work of our elections and municipal staff in action, said Secretary Dunlap. The people of Sagadahoc County and the town of Dresden have the opportunity to choose their next voice in Augusta, which makes today a banner day. It just so happens that yesterday marked the 93rd anniversary of women's suffrage and I think it's a fitting commemoration that both Senate candidates from the major parties are women.

Secretary Dunlap will be visiting the following polling locations today. Times listed are approximate:

  • 10:30am         Topsham Fairground Exhibition Building, 54 Elm Street
  • 12pm               Bath Middle School, 6 Old Brunswick Road
  • 1:30pm            Richmond Jr/Sr High School Gymnasium, 132 Main Street

The following municipalities are included within Senate District 19; Dresden; Arrowsic;    Phippsburg; Bath; Richmond; Bowdoin; Topsham; Bowdoinham; West Bath; Georgetown; and Woolwich.  Registered voters who live in these jurisdictions are eligible to vote in the special election.  Polls are open at 8am in each of those towns except Arrowsic, which opens at 10am.  All polls close at 8pm.
