Secretary of State, Charles E. Summers, Jr. and AAA Will Bring Young Drivers Safety Awareness Presentation to Maranacook Community High School
Secretary of State Charlie Summers and AAA will bring an anti-texting and driving educational presentation–called “Young Drivers Safety Awareness” – to Maranacook Community High School, 2250 Millard Harrison Drive in Readfield on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The presentation will cover the dangers of distracted driving, texting and driving and impaired driving. Summers and AAA are encouraging students, parents and teachers to sign a pledge to not text and drive.
With prom and graduation season around the corner it's important for students to be cautioned about the consequences of destructive decisions. 8 of the 10 deadliest days for teens are between May and August, Summers said. Secretary Summers will also be presenting Maranacook Community High School with a copy of Point of No Return, a video produced locally by Video Creations, a Kennebunk video production company that stars Kennebunk High School students. The video provides a powerful message for young people on the dangers of drinking and driving. Summers hopes all schools will show this video to the entire student body in an effort to promote the dangers of Drinking and Driving during prom and graduation season.
