Secretary of State Charles E. Summers, Jr. and AAA Northern New England Expand Public Private Partnership
Ribbon cutting ceremony in Portland to celebrate expansion of services to Portland, Bangor and Augusta AAA branch offices.
?
Earlier this year the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and AAA Northern New England successfully piloted a public private partnership where AAA processed basic license renewals and replacements at the Waterville AAA branch office. Portland, Bangor and Augusta area residents can look forward to improved availability of motor vehicle license and state identification card renewal and replacement service options starting November 28, 2012.
A ribbon cutting ceremony with AAA Northern New England President Eric Cyr and Secretary of State Charlie Summers is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th at 10:00am at the Portland, AAA Headquarters located at 68 Marginal Way.
?I?m pleased to work with AAA Northern New England to enhance the availability of services,? said Secretary of State Charlie Summers. ?It?s exciting to be part of a partnership where government and the private sector are working together to provide quality services to Maine?s licensed drivers in more locations with flexible hours of operation and without any additional cost to the consumer, business, or the State.?
BMV/AAA will be introducing the service offering to the remaining five Maine AAA offices in the coming months. This service will be available to both AAA members and the general public. Services will be limited to basic license and state identification card renewals and replacements for US citizens. AAA branch office business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm.
?This is an excellent example of a public private partnership that enhances services to our members and the motorist of Maine?, said Eric Cyr, President of AAA Northern New England. ?We are excited with the opportunity to partner with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and expand the locations and hours of license and state identification card renewal and replacement services in Maine.?
